How We Got Here
American Harvest - East Brunswick, NJ
February, 1993
American Harvest took root in the "old barn" and former liqour store at 629 Route 18 South and Arthur Avenue in East Brunswick, NJ. The store was a pioneer in many ways; the first "farmer's market" in the area, offering produce, gourmet products, fresh baked goods, and amazing sandwiches. Shortly there after, the outdoor BBQ's began, and the smell of roasted pigs, chicken, ribs, mac n' cheese, and so much more cascaded down the highway each weekend.
As they say, all good things come to an end, and unfortunately with the stock market and economy collapsing in 2007, things took a turn for the worst. The large space in East Brunswick was ultimately split into three smaller locations: A storefront in a strip mall off Union Hill Road in Marlboro, a location within the Rt. 516 Farmer's Market in Old Bridge, and lastly a location in the Maple Meade Plaza at 1892 US Highway 130 in North Brunswick.
Catering Leads the Way
Pictured is the aforementioned store, and long time customers still recall old favorites such as rugelach and volcano apple pies. Now operating as Harvest Specialty, the business model continued to shift away from retail and more towards catering and gifts.
Ultimately, all the locations were closed, and the ever steady catering business was now the full focus. For the last ten years, Harvest Specialty Catering has continued to cement a position as one of the premiere full-service caterers in Central NJ.
Moving Forward
In an effort to continue to bring the freshest prepared foods to our customer's table, we've continued to invest in equipment to differentiate from other competitors. Our mobile fleet consists of two kitchen trailers, a refrigerated trailer for large events, as well as support trailers to haul plates, chaffing dishes, and "lots of other stuff."
